Born healthy, Patrick had a very ordinary start in life until a week after his first birthday while just getting on his feet after experiencing the flu – Patrick experienced an allergic reaction to the medication he received causing swelling to the brain that had a debilitating knock-on effect on his experience of life.
After a stay in hospital to receive treatment for this condition, over a period of time, once home, Patrick relearned to walk, talk, eat for himself and interact with the world around him. When at school it quickly became very clear that Patrick found tasks such as reading and writing quite challenging. At the age of 7, his learning abilities were tested and he was diagnosed with Dyslexia and received support for this.
Patrick left school at 16, he worked full time while he trained to be a cook then later a baker. After working ridiculously long hours over an extended period of time, Patrick as he describes experienced a nervous breakdown, after which the back pain felt in earlier years developed and expanded and spread throughout the rest of his body, all the while a deep depression consumed him. In search of trying to get to the bottom of the pain and unexplained difficulties and symptoms Patrick saw a number of specialists and underwent countless tests including ruling out MS, eventually, he was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
Even now, Patrick finds it difficult to grasp the words that accurately portrait this challenging and debilitating period, from the extortionate pain levels, the difficulty communicating, moving around, the severe fatigue, feeling trapped, memory issues, dealing with strong medications, the social shame and impact of living with an invisible illness and suicidal thoughts and how this impacted living with and interacting with a very young family.
This lead Patrick on a very deep internal journey, facing his demons, having massive insights on the way that lead to Acceptance, ‘doing nothing’, forgiveness, learning to say no – to say yes, the power in creating space, learning what the mind is and how it works, and that, at some level everything is perfect and everything is and will be okay.
Today Patrick is married to his longtime life partner Claire, has 6 wonderful children who share with him something new every day. He works with clients from all over the world helping people deepening their understanding of life, their minds and pointing them towards their true nature.
Patrick has had great success with clients from a variety of ages and backgrounds that have come to him with addictions, grief, anger issues, weight management, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, nervousness, souls seeking wellbeing, and much more
It is his life’s wish now to share with and help anyone where he can. He speaks, holds workshops, hosts the official Emerge community facebook group, he is now in the process of writing a book that he hopes will inspire others.
Patrick formed and oversees a peer learning and support group for those doing similar work to himself that meet monthly, through the shared mentoring, coaching and learning it has naturally enhanced the groups individual capacity and it has a ripple effect within their private transformational ‘changework’ clinics/practices helping others.
In this digital age and with the support of wonderfully simple technology Patrick typically works remotely with clients on 12, 24 or 52-week packages. Patrick will Facilitate 3-day intensives and one-off retreats. Showing up, being human is a prerequisite for working with Patrick, he works with people where there is an established connection built up through introductions, meetings and some chatting back and forth and where there is a mutual resonance – and it makes sense to work together.
He typically works with people who perform at a high level, who have experienced a degree of success in their life, who now feel a bit stuck, or can sense there are changes coming and would like support in that, and are looking for more of a ‘whole’ approach to what they do with less on their minds rather than living within mental ‘boxes’ of home, work, family, community. Its being able to show up to life in real-time and show up to what shows up
“Over the period of time working together, rather than having more to do, it’s about less and all our conversations and exercises point towards how your mind works and how it is already working for you, within you, that all the resilience, connection, insights, fresh thinking, realisations you need is already there and this is about deepening that understanding of how life already works.
Realising and uncovering your innate mental health, well being, capacity for growing, developing, performing and enhancing skills with creativity, ease and flow. By discovering and knowing who you really are, it is a lot easier to simply be here in the world, with Family, Friends, Colleagues and the wider community”
In this increasingly complex world there is a need for those who keep things simple, see things as they really are and can respond with a clearer mind.
